My girls and I all have aprons that we use while we clean the house. I wanted to make an apron for my son, so I found this cute pattern online for making a child’s garden apron. I altered it a little by adding another pocket, and I embroidered his name on it. He loves tractors, so I was thrilled when I found this tractor embroidery alphabet .

I’ve been waiting a while to be able to post this. I entered my quilt into a contest at Joann’s fabric store, but apparently didn’t win, so now I can post this. Last year (July 2011) when I stayed with my mom for a couple days so that my dad could go camping, I had a vision of a quilt with the verse "With God, all things are possible". I decided to make her a quilt with healing scriptures embroidered on it.

I have been having to alter a lot of old Barbie patterns because they don’t fit the new Barbie Basics or Silkstones. I found a software online that I can put in the measurements and it will draft the pattern for me. It doesn’t work with Barbie’s actual measurements, but multiplying it by six, it works. I thought it would be a lot easier to measure the Barbies with a tape measure that is 1/6 scale to avoid converting all the measurements. So here it is. Just download it and print it using a program such as Photoshop to print it at 100% scale, do not “fit to page” or anything like that. If you have any trouble, feel free to contact me. After printing, I cut it and put a strip of tape on each side, then cut the tape close to the paper. The measurements are in inches.  It is supposed to be 10.24 inches long when printed. Today I went to the thrift store to see what they had in crafts and found a bunch of embossing powders and ink. I’ve seen embossed stamps just recently on the web, so I was thrilled to find these. Normally they run around $5 each and I got them for $1.75 each. I was excited to try them out and so were my kids. I don’t have a heating gun, but I looked up online and found that you can use a regular clothes iron for it, so I gave it a try. It worked fine, but some of the paper was sensitive to the heat and curled up a little. All I did was hold the paper above the iron as the iron bottom was faced up. The paper barely touched the iron and it took about 10-20 seconds to heat the paper enough to melt the powder. It didn’t singe or burn any of the paper. Some irons may vary. I used Durathon Electronic Iron by Hamilton Beach. I bought seven different colors, although some colors say the same name but are quite different. They are from different companies, too.
