Barbie Striped Swimsuit

Image
I am very excited to introduce this handmade swimsuit. It’s like the vintage black and white striped swimsuit, only pink and black. It’s made with stretch knit fabric and can fit pretty much any Barbie size, but it fits a little tight with the 1980’s Barbies. Listed on eBay now.

My Daughter’s Birthday Surprise

Image
Using Daniel Bingham’s Empire Sundress pattern, I made this shoe dress for my daughter’s 6th birthday. She LOVES shoes. I made the shoe belt to also be a bracelet for my daughter, and matching ear rings. I also made the Barbie’s necklace and bracelet to match. The party’s not until the 15th, so I am anxious to give it to her! She already suspects that she’s getting this Barbie Basics doll because she peaked when I bought some for my other two girls for their birthdays, but she will be so surprised when she sees the ensemble.

Barbie Restorations Finished

Image
When I was about six years old, my aunt gave me and my sister her entire Barbie collection (which was a lot). Over the years, they have gotten worn and needed some touch-ups. I researched how to touch up the paint, what kind of paint to use, etc. Then I went to work. I had a lot of fun giving my vintage Barbies makeovers and making them look like new. My daughters brought me their Barbies, too, to touch up or change the color of the lipstick.

Simplicity 1955 Fashion Doll (Barbie) Clothes Pattern

Image
Joann’s Fabrics had their 99-cent sale on Simplicity Patterns, so I bought a bunch of Barbie clothes patterns. My daughters saw all of them and squealed as they picked out which ones they wanted me to make. My oldest daughter was so persistent, she picked out the fabric and said, “Come on, Mommy, let’s make my Barbie dress.” So I gave in.
